Active School Journeys Pilot Project
Primary 7 Consultation

We were delighted to welcome Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly known as Sustrans) and AECOM to our school on Tuesday 17th February for our first engagement session as part of the Department for Infrastructure’s Active School Journeys Pilot Project. They consulted with our Primary 7 class who gave really great feedback and ideas.

This exciting initiative aims to improve active travel infrastructure around schools and encourage more pupils and families to consider walking, wheeling and cycling for their school journeys.

Our school is proud to have been selected as one of the pilot schools in this next phase of the project. Building on previous engagement to develop a draft ‘Safer Journey to School Toolkit’, this stage will focus on delivering real infrastructure improvements shaped by consultation with our school community.

During the session, pupils had the opportunity to share their views and ideas about how to make journeys to and from school safer and more accessible. We look forward to working closely with the project team as plans develop and to seeing the positive impact this will have on our school community.
