All County Success for St Mary's Girls

ALL COUNTY SUCCESS FOR ST MARY’S GIRLS

Our Primary 7 girls today became Antrim Champions in ladies Gaelic football and narrowly missed out on becoming county champions in camogie.

Before they even left school this morning this group of primary 7 girls had made history as the first team to represent St Mary’s at County Finals day in the codes of ladies football and camogie!

Girls football was the first code to be played and they beat N Antrim champions St Brigid’s Ballymoney well in their  first game. In the second match, they were pushed hard by a very good St Anne’s Belfast team but thanks to an amazing team performance, our girls came out on top.

With no time to celebrate their win after the presentation the girls had to get their helmets on and hurls poised to turn their attention to camogie.

The first game proved their undoing as they faced a formidable St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s Ballycastle team. The game was nip and tuck the whole way with only a stroke of luck between the teams.
The girls beat St Anne’s Belfast in their second game placing them as the second best camogie schools team in County Antrim!

All in all, a brilliant way to finish off an amazing year of success for an incredibly talented group of girls! We are very proud of each one of you, for your hard work and determination and for the example you have set for our younger pupils.
